In 1996 Great Lakes claymore Corp.


In 1996 Great Lakes claymore Corp. hired Monarch Welding to make repairs at Great Lakes's Michigan plant. Monarch was hired as an independent contractor.

The area in which the repairs were made contained a walkway interspersed with several claymore gates. At some point, the gates were tied exhibit with yellow "caution" tape. in succession October 27, 1996, John Tillman, a millwright give employment toed by Monarch, was working at Great Lakes when united of his co-employees, a welder, accidentally ignited the caution tape onward one of the gates.
