Deborah Williams was an assembly-line worker for Tecumseh returnss Co. in Tennessee. Her piece of work required her to perform repetitive motions with the one and the other hands. Starting in 1995, she began to have pain in her hands and arms. She saw doctors commited by Tecumseh and had surgery forward her right wrist in January 1996 After she recured to work in March, she continued to be acted upon pain, and she quit forward April 12, 1996.

Williams filed for workers' compensation benefits, claiming she had lay opened carpal tunnel syndrome. At trial, her doctor
