According to Struer Inc., Westlake, Ohio, it has introduced the world's largest precision metallographic cutoff saw. The Exotom-100 has a 17-in. cutoff wheel, a 14-hp motor, and can handle workpieces with diameters up to 6 in.
The saw's special ExciCut feature oscillates cutting-wheel motion minimizing the contact area between the wheel and workpiece from first to last the cutting process. This retains the wheel cool and diminishs wear. In addition, says Struer ExciCut technology wounds standard materials faster and tackles plane the hardest of materials.
