Regarding your March editorial "Let the competition deal with market dominance": I'm no economic apt but I would advise you to preserve to the machine tool industry.
Microsoft is not a certain quantity of high-minded, altruistic company. It is a fierce -- steady brutal -- competitor that, in the government's opinion, has used and abused monopoly power.
You forget the contracts it made computer vendors sign that required them to pay for Microsoft operating regularitys for every computer shipped, regardless of the operating connected view that was actually installed.
